A Touch of History: Classic Mini Bikes
Enthusiasts of racing and vehicles in general tend to go for the latest styles. The more high-tech, or more "sleek" the design, the better. Collectors pour money into acquiring the latest and greatest models. But are you ready to add something unique to your collection? Classic mini bikes is the way to go.
Sometimes, in order to better appreciate something, we have to look at its past rather than its present. Classic mini bikes offer a touch of history, a look back at the genius and artistry that allowed the modern mini bike to achieve the status it enjoys among sporting fans the world over.
Some bike makes are said to be "classic" in the sense that they aren't manufactured and distributed anymore, and finding parts for them is definitely not an easy chore. Among them are the Rupp bikes. This brand, which enjoyed its golden age in the 70s, has become a by-word among enthusiasts of vintage bikes. Some shops offer restorations of Rupp mini bikes, but admittedly some of the parts are now hard to find. And of course, nothing beats the quality of a well-preserved Rupp bike, with most of its parts and frame intact!
A Bird minicycle would also be pretty hard to find, and to discover one that is restored to almost its original condition would make any vintage collector's heart race. The original 60s Bird minicycle comes with the barest bike frame, no suspension, and a torque converter instead of a gearbox. Just looking at this bike, one would marvel at how it used to be a favorite for racing, back in the good old days!
And what collector of motorbikes could overlook the classic Harley? Yes, even the famous brand Harley-Davidson makes mini motos, and in fact came out with a line of impressive mini bikes in the early 70s, cashing in on the mini bike craze that swept the United States. Even now, the designs of early Harley mini bikes would seem stylish and ahead of their time.
Classic mini bikes show the way mini motorbikes have evolved through the years. Those who know how to appreciate good vintage vehicles know how to pay tribute to history, and to respect the traditions of the sport of biking.
