Purchasing Cheap Minibikes
Often, you can find cheap minibikes for sale. Finding them isn't the problem - getting a good cheap minibike, however, may be a different story. It is important to remember that you get what you pay for, but in many instances, you will be able to find cheap minibikes that look and run great - as long as you are careful.
You can find brand new cheap minibikes through many dealers. Sometimes the cheap price is due to an overstock sale, or possibly even a discontinuance sell. It is important to ask why the minibike is on sale, and to ensure that you will still be able to get parts and service for the bike. Often, in the case of discontinuance, parts or service may be hard to come by.
If the reason for the sale isn't overstock or discontinuance, again, ask why the bike is on sale, and start looking for defects. The minibike may be marked down simply because there is a minor scratch or chip in the paint, which would be fine, but it may also be marked down because something is wrong with the engine. Another common reason why a minibike may be cheap is because it was previously purchased, and then returned. Find out why!
You can also find cheap minibikes that are used. Check your local newspaper classifieds, minibike trade magazines, the Internet, and your local dealer's bulletin board. When you talk with the individual selling the minibike, make sure that you ask why they want to get rid of it. Try to see the bike, and give it a test run before going through with the purchase. Don't just ride it for a couple of minutes - fill the tank up, and ride it until you are almost out of gas if you can. This will give you time to see if there is anything mechanically wrong with it.
If the paint is scratched or chipped, don't worry too much about it. That can easily, and cheaply, repaired. Also, before discussing price, look to see how much the same bike sells for when it is new, this information, as well as the current condition of the minibike, will allow you to determine a fair price in your mind, before discussing it with the owner of the bike.
You can find cheap minibikes, you just have to use a bit of caution, and do a little homework. With that, you will ride away on a cheap minibike that is really anything but cheap!
