Fast Minibikes Offer Superb Performance and Customization
Since minibikes are all about customization, several breeds and obvious genres of minibikes have developed. Many users are looking for added performance; others are looking for great looks and usability. Fast minibikes are varied in their pricing and availability, but most companies offer at least one minibike that can be classified as a racer.
Minibikes range in price from around 50 bucks at garage sales and junk dealers, to over a thousand for a pre-modified name brand bike. Some of the biggest names in the game are Yamaha, Honda, and Kawasaki. These are companies that have a reputation of excellence in racing and fast motorcycles, so the transition to excellent fast minibikes is seamless. There are two main schools of thought for attaining a fast minibike - buying or customizing.
Locating a pre-fabricated fast minibike is fairly simple. The things to look for are overall horsepower outage, and a lightweight frame (most likely aluminum or lightweight steel). A large engine, which by today's standards means 80+ cubic centimeters, with a good amount of horsepower outage - 6+ horsepower, is a necessity. Next, sufficient air flow is required. This means a custom exhaust to allow the fast minibike's powerhouse to ‘breathe.' These types of bikes can be had on eBay, at dealers, and directly from manufacturers. Expect to pay $300-400 for a new one, and sometimes up to $1000. The mechanic work on these is top of the line, so a user has to pay for it.
For an expert, any minibike can quickly become a fast minibike. Often, customizing a minibike to be a fast minibike is the cheaper of the two methods, and can be more rewarding in the long run. Taking a bike with a solid frame and customizing it with new parts and engine performance kits can make it into a fast minibike in no time. After this is completed, adding aesthetic accents is imperative. Many bikers choose custom decals, accessories (headlights, fog lights, saddlebags, and more), and more comfortable saddles. Adding new tires and shocks increases comfort and durability of the bike, and often adds a visual appeal.
