How to Build a Minibike

If you truly want a custom minibike, learn how to build a minibike yourself, instead of purchasing one from a dealer. It may not be as hard as you think. Some mechanical skill will be required, so that you know what goes where and why, but in some cases, you don't even need mechanical skill!

If you don't have a lot of mechanical skill, but you still want to learn how to build your own minibike, order one of the many minibike kits that are available. This is the best way to learn if you don't have someone to help you out, and you can order kits for many different styles of minibikes.

If you feel like you have enough mechanical skill to go it alone without a kit, start by gathering the parts that you will need. These include: wheels, tires, sprockets, a chain, throttle assembly, throttle cables, brake lever, reflectors, a fender, a seat, a minibike frame, a drive train, an exhaust system, air filter assembly, and a kill switch - just for starters. Still feel like going it alone? At this point, you might think that you don't have the necessary skills - and you might not.

If you don't purchase a kit, and you don't know what you are doing, find somebody that does. Ask them to help you select the parts, and to guide you as you assemble those parts to learn how to build a minibike. Make sure you do the work yourself, and that they are just there for information and guidance, or you won't learn very much.

Alternately, there are many books available for purchase, or from your local library, that will teach you everything you need to know about how to build a minibike. There is quite a bit to learn, and you must realize that there is more to it than just running to the store and purchasing the parts - not all parts are compatible.

So, if you really want to know how to build a minibike, purchase a kit, find someone to guide you, or start reading. Using one of these three methods, you will find that building your own minibike isn't as hard as you thought it would be!
