Mini Bikes Aren't Just For Kids!

If you've seen the mini bikes or pocket bikes on the market today, you may mistakenly believe that these bikes are for kids. While that was what they were originally intended for, mini bikes are also now meant for older kids and adults as well. In fact, there are probably more adults that own mini bikes than there are kids.

When mini bikes first came on the market - for kids - manufacturers quickly realized the adult interest in these miniature motorcycles and choppers, and got right to work on building mini bikes that could support the weight of an adult. Some were already constructed well enough to hold adult weight, and now, most mini bikes on the market can support up to three hundred pounds.

Of course, adults wanted more speed than what was intended for kids between the ages of nine and twelve, so adjustments had to be made to the mini bikes to give the adults the speeds that they wanted. Some mini bikes can go up to 65 miles per hour or more. The mini bikes can be fitted with seats that have more height, as well as foot pegs that are farther away from the ground for tight turns.

Mini bikes are very popular with adults today, and they are raced in sponsored mini moto sports where the competition is very serious - and very tough. While mini bikes are relatively cheap, some people spend hundreds, or even thousands, customizing their mini bikes to ensure that they are getting top performance out of them. The popularity is such that mini street bikes are now produced by some manufacturers, which meet the requirements necessary for use on public streets and highways.
