Getting Optimal Performance from Your Super Pocket Bikes

There is performance, and then there is optimal performance. You want to get the best possible performance out of your super pocket bikes, and doing so is really quite easy. Here are some tips to help you along the way:

  • 1. Choose your gasoline wisely. Don't use racing fuel. It will not help your performance, and in fact, it may cause problems. Instead, use a high octane unleaded gasoline from your local gas station. Make sure, however, that you do not get ‘bad gas.' When purchasing gasoline for your super pocket bikes, look at the condition of the gasoline pumps, and the ground. If water is standing around the area where the underground tanks are filled, don't buy your gas at that station.
  • 2. Break your super pocket bike in right. Don't run your bike at the maximum RPM's during the break in period. It takes about four tanks of gasoline to break your super bike in. During this period, don't push the bike too hard - baby it a bit.
  • 3. Mix the oil right. The gas to oil mixture is quite easy to figure out. If the bike is new, the mixture should be 25:1. If the bike is broken in, the mixture should be 50:1. Use 2 Stroke Motorcycle Oil. Do not use the same kind of oil that you put in your car - it's not meant for motorcycles.
  • 4. Don't run it cold. Allow your super pocket bike to warm up for about five minutes after starting it. This allows the motor and the fluids to heat up to their optimal running temperatures. Never just start it and ride without allowing it to warm up.
  • 5. Check your air pressure. The proper air pressure in the front tire is 30psi. In the rear tire, it is 32psi. Check your air pressure often. Remember that the temperature outside will have an affect on tire air pressure as well.

Finally, get to know your super pocket bike. Know what is normal, and what is not normal. When it isn't running as it normally does, or if it doesn't sound as it normally does, turn it off, and find out what the problem is. Do not continue to run it, as this will probably cost you more money in the long run. Make all repairs as soon as possible, and park the bike until the repairs are made.
